Large Volume Parenterals
Large Volume Parenterals (LVPs) are single doses of more than 50cc. The prefiltration is used to remove particles to extend the life of the final filtration cartridges (sterilizers). The final filtration cartridges are used to reduce the biological load or sterile filtration prior to final sterilization. The volume of the LVP is usually thousands of liters, and multiple filling lines can be working at the same time.
The ingredients in typical LVP solutions include water, dextrose (5% to 50%), amino acids, salts and very viscous total parenteral nutrition (TPN). Prefilters are used to reduce saline solution particles, and to remove hard particles for dextrose solutions prior to final sterilization filtration (another option to reduce the biological load is using 0.45 Micron filters.
Our models
HixPleat
Hixpleat cartridges are constructed of polypropylene microfibers. Providing superior chemical compatibility, high and reliable particle retention. These pre-filters protect the final filters improving their useful life and reducing their costs.
